Hard to believe that the holidays are upon us once again. The Curtsy Girls love this time of year! We are in the process of transforming the store this week into a Winter Wonderland, with a bit of an edge of course! It’s definitely shaping up to be our best holiday season ever!

They’re back!!! Our snarky Holiday Towels were such a hit last year, that we’ve decided to make them a Curtsy Bella tradition. In addition to Merry F**king Christmas and Fa La F**king La, we’ve added several new styles. Guaranteed to bring a smile to your guests or the lucky recipient!

The days are getting shorter, the weather cooler and we are all beginning to spend more time indoors. Seems like a fitting time to introduce the new Tokyomilk Dark collection. Eight new fabulous fragrances such a Bulletproof, Absinthe and Tainted Love. Hand Creams and Lip Elixirs to match. Best to beware… a little spritz could take you over to the Dark Side.

The Curtsy Girls are big fans of the whole hunting lodge look. Rustic, woodsy, cool. Being that we’re not so much of the hunting type of girls, we were thrilled to find the Cardboard Safari line of Trophy Heads. Bucks, Rhino, Elephants & Bison are now hanging out on the wall in Curtsy Bella. Each piece is laser cut, easy to assemble and can be painted to match your decor. Love!!!!

Get Hitched Give Hope 2011!!!!

If you are a Bride-To-Be you HAVE to attend Get Hitched Give Hope!!!! It is such an amazing event & it is coming up on October 27th at the Four Seasons. The idea for GHGH was hatched in late 2007 over a bottle of wine at a monthly networking event…aren’t all the best ideas fueled by vino?;) The question was raised “Wouldn’t it be great if there was an event that would bring members of the local wedding industry together AND raise money for a great cause?” A novel idea, there was nothing like it in the Seattle area. Over the next couple of months, Get Hitched, Give Hope was born. Now in it’s fourth year, it is a non profit organization that raises money to grant wishes for terminally ill patients through auctions of fabulous wedding goods and services. I attended two years ago after getting engaged, and was uber lucky to be the highest bidder on Barbie Hull‘s wedding photography package. We loved the event & the premise so much that Curtsy Bella was beyond happy to oblige when asked to get involved last year. We donated a $650 custom embroidery bridal package. The lovely & giving Bride & Groom To Be that were the highest bidders choose a bridal robe, hankies for their family members, boxers for the groomsmen, and monogrammed cosmetic bags for the bridesmaids.

This year, I was honored to be asked to be a part of the Event Design Team. It has been such a fantastic experience helping & getting to know the rest of the amazing team that work all year to fundraise, raise awareness & bring this event together. This is absolutely a not-to-be-missed event for all engaged couples!!! All the packages up for auction are donated by truly the best-of-the-best Seattle wedding vendors. Why not get a warm & fuzzy feeling knowing that moola you will be dishing out for your big day could help grant wishes for terminally ill patients?! The 2011 Auction Catalog was just released online….check out the ahhhhhmazing packages that are up for grabs this year…

Go4theGoal Medals

I just completed 10 Custom Curtsy prize medals for the upcoming Go4theGoal’s Richards Run 5K taking place in Bellevue this Saturday. I was honored to be asked to help with this project. I wasn’t familiar with the Go4theGoal Foundation until recently….they are a not-for-profit corporation formed in 2006 by Dr. Richard & Beth Stefanacci when their oldest son Richard (13) was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of
bone cancer. A good friend of mine knew Richard and volunteers her time to the G4G Foundation. She asked if I would help create something to honor some of the supporters participating in the race, and I was honored to oblige!

The Go4theGoal Foundation is a public charity whose funds are used to provide supportive services to children with cancer and their families with the goal to provide a sense of “normalcy” in their lives while they “Go4theGoal” of being healthy again soon. Proceeds from this weekend’s Richard’s Run 5K will benefit the Pediatric Oncology Unit at Seattle Children’s Hospital. It is taking place this Saturday September 24, 2011 in Bellevue. Joggers, walkers and supporters of every age will rock Medina with the energy to stomp out childhood cancers and raise funds for research and support programs. Mark & Ashley

I still get tickled thinking of our wedding being featured in Seattle Met Bride & Groom! It was beyond exciting for us to have all the love & hard work that went into our big day shared with more than just our family & friends…not to mention it was amazing exposure for Curtsy! However, by far the most flattering response to the feature has been being contacted by brides & grooms-to-be hoping I can assist with creations for their upcoming nuptials. Just after the magazine hit stands in January, I was contacted by Groom-To-Be Mark, set to wed come September. He loved the boutonnieres I created for my gents, and wanted me to create similar ones that fit their style & wedding theme. Oui Oui! We got down to business in late July, and he just picked up the final creations yesterday…

I created seven boutonnieres in all. He gave me a few key characteristics for each of the groomsmen & himself so I could personalize each one, and also gave me some themes from the wedding to work with….one of the main ones being that the groom & many of his gents are Assyrian. As their tuxedos will be topped off with silver ascots, we decided that antique silvered brass stampings were the way to go in terms of the findings….

In the company of Mark & his groomsmen, one will meet poets & travelers, free spirits, businessmen, computer aficionados, bankers, construction workers, & family men. For the poets, I included fountain pen nibs & love meters that spin & have French or English terms on either side…

The travelers got the world & a little airplane propeller…tools for the construction worker…

My favorite request from Mark was that one of them include something gangster. I emailed him a few ideas, and he loved them so much he wanted me to include them in all of the boutonnieres. Brass knuckles, pistols, & bullets….damn, it feels good to be a gansta. (Had that song stuck in my head way too much whilst making these)
